The movie western is one of the best propaganda forms ever distributed around the world. The fact that it was mostly unintentional only made its effect stronger. When, how, and why westerns were written and made varies as widely as their makers. Silverado was made in times long after the 'old west' and also long after most famous golden age western movies. Yet it achieved a latter day western classic status due to good writing, good casting, and good applied fundamentals of motion picture artistry.

One of the few movies, possibly the only movie, that I've seen where actor Henry Fonda played a villain. It's been some years since I've seen this movie. Thanks for the recap.

I was being bullied by three older boys and, one day, we were walking home from school and they set their younger brothers on me and I bashed all three of them, left them bleeding and crying. So the older boys came at me and I was dishing out punches like a catherine wheel and then we all saw that my parents were at the bust stop nearby. Dad told me years later that mum told him to do something, but he said "no, he has to defend himself. Besides, he's doing quite well" The boys went home a lot worse for wear and they never bothered me again. That is how you deal with bullies. And if it's more than one, then there are no rules!

This reminds me of a chapter in the book "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark", this chapter was about a hostage situation @ an elementary school, and there was a blonde woman who saved the day through clever maneuvers, it turned out that group (the bad people) were practicing shooting in the woods and one of their bullets struck her by mistake while she was hiking. She was a spirit back for vengeance, and no one could believe it after everything came out in the papers. You guys should read that book, all those short stories were really good.
